This is my fifth submission to Art Bead Scene's July Challenge, The Mermaid's Grotto. I've still got loads of ideas and acquatic beads left... so I doubt this will be the last. And to answer a question e-mailed to me: Yes, I've created all of these original pieces since the announcement of the challenge.
Even though I'm sick, I'm having a lot of fun putting necklaces together for this month's theme. I've held on to this Heather Wynn focal bead for a while now, but really wanted to do something special. I think I have. Heather calls these types of beads, "Tucson" beads. But for me, I think of each of these polymer mokume beads as a little planet, churning with oceans and seas yet to be explored or charted. I used the Heather Wynn bead with various stones and pearls from Talisman Associates Inc., gold cornerless cubes from Saki Silver, Swarovski Crystals from Fusion Beads, and vintage lucite from Pudgy Beads.

this is really pretty. Heather's beads are so beautiful, as well. great piece!
Hi Andrew,
hope you are feeling better soon! I look forward to seeming more of your amazing designs. I love your contributions to the ABS. (and no there isn't a limit to entries.) By the time the month is up you could have enough designs for your own book!
such a great idea from heather! a book of your designs, your artwork, writings, recipes...maybe all on a mermaid/sea theme...
I didn't want to give away the super secret project that I'm working on... but I guess since the cat is part way out of the bag, I might as well.
Right now, I'm in the process of writing three books. One is a book of poetry. Did you know that I used to write poetry and that I've been published all over... Europe, Australia, the U.S.? Most of it is under a different name. I saw a copy of one of the anthologies I'm in at The Strand. It was very exciting. Sometimes I google check my other "persona" and find all sorts of things popping up here and there. The second book is a jewelry book. And the third book is a work of fiction.
I'm not going to say anymore about them. I've still got lots of work to do.
Cynthia and I are also supposed to start working on the Green Girl Studios inspiration book. That should be really fun! Any suggestions for what you'd like to see in print for that particular project?
that's so weird...you 'live' somewhere else with a different name ;-)....
will you share the name and where the poetry can be found?
I'll see if I can work on some ideas for the GG project.
and thanks for letting those 'cats' out ;-)
Nope. I won't give up the name. One day, perhaps on my death-bed, I'll reveal the name and where to find the books. Though until that time, I doubt it. I've even been so clever as to either disguise the books or hide them away in my own collection so as to not give anything away to anyone who might happen to be browsing my bookshelves.
I guess the mystery is the fun part. Just wondered about the poetry, though.
