Falling Away...

The sun sets earlier and earlier each day. I can smell the smoke of wood stoves and fireplaces on the air; I can smell the richness of fallen leaves being reclaimed by the earth and the something sweet of autumn. They say that the first frost is on its way. I've packed away my shorts and flip-flops. My thoughts turn inward, towards an instinct to nest and prepare for the coming cold.

I think of stocking shelves and filling cupboards. I think of bringing out the warm blankets and the heaters. But I also think of purging and scraping away the detritus that's built up. I feel almost like a tree, dropping leaves. Already I've packed up some boxes to take to Goodwill. I've filled bags and bags with trash. I've pruned some of my social media outlets, removing spammers and lurkers with ill-intentions. Soon I'll have to empty the planters filled now only with dead annuals and crispy, brown leaves. I'm shedding things, preparing for a colder season.

The true beauty of your soul Andrew is not so much that you can pinpoint with preciseness that which the rest of us overlook, but that you feel these things on a level that is mystical, almost spiritual. Thank you for showing me the world through your lens. My world is richer for having experienced those words.

Enjoy the day!

So Beautiful...wow.
You articulate so magically what "Fall cleansing" means to me.
Thank you!

Apparently, the season will be a bit raged this year. I hope you will not have bad fall/winter.
My place, rainy continuously throughout this year. Whereas, three months ago, summer should be already arrived. But no summer, rainy all day.
Climate is changing I think =<

Your post accuratly sums up what I have been feeling the last few days. You have a wonderful way of expressing your feelings. The part about feeling like a tree dropping leaves is a beautiful metaphor.

I admire the way you express yourself. I just wish I could do it half as good as you.
I enjoyed reading this post. It took me to a magical place.
