Walk About...

Yesterday I went for a walk around the park across the street. I circled it on the quiet paths, using the time to think. A lot has been on my mind lately. Besides the tragedy of yesterday, I've been thinking about what I want to do with my time here in Tucson. What do I want to accomplish? What do I want to come away with? What are my goals?

I drifted through these thoughts as I drifted through the washes and the paths. I stopped to take pictures occasionally, but kept a brisk pace mostly.

Every now and then, a glint of light would catch my eye. Bits of broken glass in the cornmeal sand would glitter like treasure.

I found the lacy skeletal remains of cacti laying at the base of the wilting giant.

As I kept walking, I saw a tower off in the distance that looked like a castle. Perhaps my next walk, I'll go for a closer look?

I came back, just as the sun started to dip below the horizon. The moon was just a fingernail clipping in the sky. I came away from the walk with kernels of ideas, the beginnings of answers to those questions. In the coming weeks, I'll have to plant those seeds and see what happens.

I always thought that tower was part of a church, but I heard the other day that it was a water tower. Either way, it's pretty!

I hope the fruit they bear are rich and plentiful. :)
