Sunday Dinner...

I used to cook Sunday dinner almost every weekend. I would gather about me the displaced, the Florida Ex-Pats, those who had gone without a home-cooked for too long and the lonely looking for a little bit of home in the Big City. That's not to say that we were a miserable bunch – in fact our gatherings were quite lively. It was open invitation and all were welcome. People would bring their favorite dishes, a bottle of wine, or a bag of groceries. Sometimes they'd just bring their smiles and a helping hand washing dishes.

I made beef bourguignon today. It was served over buttered egg noodles. I thought fondly of the conversations and good times dished up over dreams of stardom, toils at work, and happy companionship. It was nice way to spend part of the day.

When everything was ready, I got together a couple of plates and sent some over to the neighbors. Along with the piping hot plates of food came all my good intentions and many pleasant memories.
