Oh, Peony...

The local nursery had an end of season sale on peonies. I hadn't expected them to bloom. When I got them, they were just dirty roots with tiny sprouts. I thought that maybe by next year, they might produce. I was totally surprised by the bright white blossom on the porch. It looks a little silly. The plant is still diminutive in size and the peony blossom is quite large.

Andrew, if you plant in in your garden, remember not to plant too deep or else you will not get blooms in future. Nodes should be right at soil line. I love peonies and have several; my olds ones .. the classics I gave to my daughters when we moved and their peonies are spectacular.JT

So beautiful! I love peonies but they don't bloom this far south.
