Sanctuary Blossoms...

The flowers we potted for the deck are becoming more established. I thought I'd share some pictures of them. The deck is fast becoming a sanctuary for me. I work out there as much as I can, finding comfort in the sweet smell of flowers and the sound of chirping birds.

Often times I become distracted by the beauty of the blooms and end up spending too much time sketching and drawing them. Perhaps one of these days I'll scan the drawings and quick watercolor studies in and share them here as well.

Above are an assortment of daisies, lobelia, peonies, salvia, impatiens, and twinspur.

always have loved lobelia--so delicate, and yet such a saturated, electric color. you captured both the interesting shape of the blossoms and the supercharged blue violet!

Beading and gardening! Life! And cats also of course. Your kittens are adorebale. I too get lost in my plants and flowers. I would love to se those aquarelles of yours soon. Makes me think i should maybe also have a go. It was ages ago since i did aquarelle. Don't know if i even know where my paints are. All my best and cuddles to the kittens from me.

Beautiful colors! I can see why you would get distracted by these gorgeous flowers.

The rain has finally let up here so maybe I will get the chance to plant some flowers.

Enjoy your garden.

What beautiful and colorful blooms. I live and work in my "out back" sanctuary as well. Doesn't it do a body, soul and spirit good?
Thanks for sharing.

If ever a flower deserved a kiss that daisy sure does. You will have to take a picture of your deck for us with all the flowers in their place

Beautiful photos, Andrew! They've really brightened my day!

I've been debating whether I wanted to play inside (in the studio) or outside (in the garden) today. You've inspired me to head outdoors!

Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful photographs. The large yellow flower - I've called those "sunshiney yellow blooms" on my homemade seed packets - is absolutely gogeous!

I would love to view your art work if you are able to scan some images sometime.

Thanks so much!
