A Good Day...

Firstly, let me say THANK YOU to everyone who commented both on and off the blog with kind and supportive words. I am blown away with the response. You all are awesome! I am touched beyond words.

Secondly, I wanted to say how cool it was to be in the room during the ultrasound when they found out that Cynthia is having a baby boy! He's already really cute and amazingly strong!

Today was a good day. We got a lot done, cleaning and organizing and preparing for the trip to Florida. We also had Cheryl Ann and Michelle over for dinner. It was so good to see them. I've missed them so much!

Cheryl Ann and Michelle provided the peach sangria. It was tasty and very refreshing. In my mind, sangria is one of those iconic summer breverages. Seeing it always puts me in a good mood - it reminds me of good friends, good food, and lots of conversation.

For the feast, Greg grilled country ribs, potatoes, and asparagus. All the while, Cynthia and I made the steamed corn on the cob, and green beans with caramelized onions and toasted almonds. For dessert, Azalea, Cynthia and I made chocolate cupcakes. Greg made the cream cheese frosting and they were TASTY! The feast was a perfect way to end the day.
Above is a close-up of the green beans. It's funny because we had just watched Tyler Florence cook them on Food Network and had to have them.

Anyway, today was a good day.

Why do I always read your posts before breakfast! When will I learn?! Glad you're having a better day. When you stick your ahead above the crowd, you're liable to get tomatoes thrown at you. Thanks for taking on a delicate subject.

All I can say is....YUM!
Congratulations to Cynthia and her family. I have a plaque that says, "A mother of a boy works from son up to son down." Too true! Have her get all the rest she can and make sure someone is rubbing her feet (I never got half the foot rubs I should have!) Enjoy the day! Erin

Congrats to Cynthia, and to you on becoming an uncle! Uncles are important - don't forget that.

Now, even after a filling breakfast, I'm hungry. I wish I could send you some of the corn out of our garden - you'd swear it was sugared, it's so sweet. We don't even need desert after having it.

Have a great day!

Hey Barbara! Ha, ha, ha! You're so funny! The situation with the hate mail is pretty ridiculous to me. I didn't really say or insert my opinion and I don't really honor baseless claims. So... things have been brighter... much brighter.

Hey Erin!

Yes, having little ones around is hard work. I am excited for the baby, but at the same time... I know just how much work it is and am not necessarily looking forward to diapers and vomit, but babies are the best... so it makes it all worth it.

I won't rub her feet or anyone else's... but I'll pass this along to Greg. That is his husbandly duty.

Hey Theresa!

I'd love an ear or two of your corn. We've been getting some corn at the store and it's been pretty dang sweet. I've been making a lot of summer salads and corn bread lately. Yum yum!
