It's quickly becoming a scorcher out there. The past few days, the temperature has skyrocketed! It is so hot out that the tar in the road started melting and sticking to the tires.
If you're looking for something to do while you attempt to avoid the heat and humidity, why not check out the recent beading magazines from Interweave Press? The summer issue of Stringing magazine hit the stands a few weeks ago and the new issue of Creative Jewelry came out in advanced copies last week. Both of them are FULL of inspiration! (I'm particularly fond of Melissa J. Lee's unique use of peppercorns in one of her designs.) So escape the heat and cool down with some hot designs!

I just recently picked up the Stringing issue, but the Creative Jewelry magazine is so difficult to find here. I guess I will need to get a subscription.
Thank you, Andrew. My good friend, Ingrid, gave me a large jar of Penzey's four color peppercorns for Christmas - and I decided they looked so festive that I needed to wear a few of them... Your work is beautiful, as always!
Oh, I LOVE Penzey! They've got some really amazing spices. I actually need to get some more curry from them. I have a recipe for curry chicken that just doesn't taste the same without their particular curry.
They're great, right? I also love The Spice House, which is owned by a different Penzey family member. If you ever find yourself in this neck of the woods, I will take you to the Spice House in Evanston - it's really a cultural experience just visiting that store. And the scent of the spice wafts on the air from a block away during the summer.
