Last year, my sister
Cynthia and I started working on a set of Oracle Cards. We were working collaboratively – I built up the backgrounds in collage and layers of paint and she went back in with figures and gave the pieces a narrative structure. The progress of the cards slowed after I returned to New York. Not to mention, Cynthia has been hard at work on her forthcoming book,
Magical Mixed Media Jewelry published by
Interweave Press due out in November 2009. Above is an example of one of the cards we finished. The card symbolizes obstacles and delays.
How apt...

Oh, this is really gorgeous. I tried finding the other images - after our nice conversation about them at Bead & Button - by searching your and Cynthia's blogs but was unsuccessful. I'm glad to have the opportunity to see this one!
These were the only two that were finished. The others were started and all my backgrounds were done, but these were the only ones to be actually completed.
