Tagged...

I generally don't play tag anymore, as I was inundated early on with too many requests to play along when I first started blogging and got a little burnt out on it. BUT...Sarkilahti of Odette NY tagged me and I couldn't refuse...

What is your current obsession?
Promoting Cynthia's new book, Enchanted Adornments: Creating Mixed Media Jewelry with Metal, Clay, Wire, Resin & More.  I can't sleep and when I do, I dream up new ideas to get the word out.

What is your weirdest obsession?
I prefer to drink out of white cups or glasses.  If possible, I only like to drink out of the same white cup.  I'll occasionally rinse it out, but I won't wash it until someone else washes it and then I repeat the process.

What are you wearing today?
Boxers and sometimes pajama bottoms.  If I don't have to leave the house I'll stay in my sleepware all day.  I like to be comfortable above all else.

What's for dinner?
Slow-cooked beef and pasta. I started it this morning, but I cheated and used a store-bought sauce instead of making my own.

What would you eat for your last meal?
To start, I'd like crab soup dumplings.  Then I'd like a bowl of lobster bisque, a plate of perfectly caramelized scallops, and squid the way my mom used to fix it.  For dessert I'd like vanilla pudding, a slice of Mississippi Mud Pie, and a piece of Mrs. Boser's Strawberry Rhubarb Pie.  All of this would be served with mint sweet tea.  (Yes, I'd be a little piggy for my last meal, but at least I'd enjoy it and I wouldn't have to worry about a belly ache in the morning.)

What's the last thing you bought?
A bag of flour from my local bodega.

What are you listening to right now?

What is your favorite ice-cream flavour?
Green Tea or Caramelized Pear with Toasted Pecans.

What do you think of the person who tagged you?
Sarkilahti is a very talented artist and jewelry maker, who takes beautiful pictures and seems really happy.

If you could have a house totally paid for, fully furnished anywhere in the world, where would you like it to be?
Near the beach, with a garden, close to the mountains, in or near a small town but close to a big city.

If you could go anywhere in the world for the next hour, where would you go?
Hawaii.  (I don't think I'd want to come back after only an hour though.)

Which language do you want to learn?
I'd like to really learn Latin and not for pretend or to pass a test in school either, but REALLY know Latin.

What's your favorite quote (for now)?
The rising tide raises all boats.

Who do you want to meet right now?
The bodega clerk who will sell me the winning lotto ticket so that I can pay off all my student loans and help support my friends, family, and other struggling artists.  (But first, let me put some more clothes on.)

What's your favorite colour?
I like a lot of different colors.  Different shades of green, crimson reds, and rich blacks.

What is your favorite piece of clothing in your own wardrobe?
My black hoodie with a striped lining.

What is your dream job?
To make things and not have to worry about bills.

What's your favorite magazine?
Stringing Magazine (or any of the Interweave bead magazines) and Selvedge.  I also like Everyday Food.

If you had £100 now, what would you spend it on?
I don't really know how much money that is.  If it could be on any, probably a couple of Anne Choi beads.

Favorite designer?
Uhmmm, I have a lot of different favorite designers.  One of my favorite jewelry designers is Nina Bagley.

Do you admire any one's style?
Tilda Swinton.  She's an avant garde fashion icon who could wear anything and make it look couture.

Describe your personal style?
At home, comfort rules.  In public, anything that'll make me look good, but not outrageous.

What are you going to do after this?
Write project instructions and continue to send out emails.  Maybe design some jewelry and finish some collages if I'm lucky.

What are your favorite movies?

What's your favorite fruit?
Oranges or pears.

What inspires you?
Seeing things and looking at the world around me, other artists, good books, songs that make you want to cry, prayer, and long walks.

What's your favorite work of art?

The rules:
1.  Respond and rework; answer the question on your blog, replace one question that you dislike with a question of your own invention.
2.  Tag eight other people.

Mississippi Mud Cake would also be a part of my last meal. My Mom has made it for me since I was a child and it is my all time favorite dessert!

I haven't had it in years. I tried to get the recipe from my mom the last time I was in Florida, but she hid her recipe books.

Strawberry/Rhubarb Pie is what I always asked my mother to make for my birthday -- it's my FAV. Once had a friend that tried to make me one and wasn't familiar w/rhubarb -- so she bit into a raw piece -- that was quite a face to see! :)

Hey Lynn! I love it too! Ha ha ha! What a funny story. I only had Mrs. Boser's pie once and it provided to be quite the drama that summer. We were visiting our grandparent's house in Arkansas and our grandma took us over to her friend's house for dinner. All of the kids LOVED her cooking and couldn't stop praising it. My grandma was a sassy Southern lady who was very competitive. She didn't like this at all. So, for the rest of the summer she tried, unsuccessfully to duplicate Mrs. Boser's pie. And she was most definitely too stubborn to ask for the recipe. She was so disgusted that for the next few weeks we only had baloney sandwiches or hotdogs or cream of mushroom soup from the can. Cooking became a sore spot for her. However, the spell was broken when I asked my grandma to make pie. She got so excited. She said, "My strawberry rhubarb pie?" And I said, "No, your pumpkin pie." Her pumpkin pie was AMAZING and she knew it. I think it dawned on her that she was a GREAT cook, but that she had her own specialities and to take pride in what she could make well.

Hey Janet! I love the water. It recharges my batteries completely. More than just recharging my batteries, but it puts me at ease. I love the sound of the water and can/have spent hours looking out over the waves, noting changes in color, shape, and size.

One day... one day... one day...

Hey Miss Molly. I know it sounds and can look gross, but I'm a little obsessive compulsive and this is one of the things that I'm a little quirky about. I even went so far as labeling my glass so that no one else would use it! :-)
