I even went so far as labeling my glass so that no one else would use it! :-)Andrew Thorntonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04191233443131580096noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31223185.post-87254526035488811362009-05-26T01:22:59.325-07:002009-05-26T01:22:59.325-07:00Hey Janet! We were visiting our grandparent's house in Arkansas and our grandma took us over to her friend's house for dinner. All of the kids LOVED her cooking and couldn't stop praising it. My grandma was a sassy Southern lady who was very competitive. She didn't like this at all. So, for the rest of the summer she tried, unsuccessfully to duplicate Mrs. Boser's pie. And she was most definitely too stubborn to ask for the recipe. She was so disgusted that for the next few weeks we only had baloney sandwiches or hotdogs or cream of mushroom soup from the can. Cooking became a sore spot for her. However, the spell was broken when I asked my grandma to make pie. She got so excited. She said, "My strawberry rhubarb pie?" And I said, "No, your pumpkin pie." Her pumpkin pie was AMAZING and she knew it. I think it dawned on her that she was a GREAT cook, but that she had her own specialities and to take pride in what she could make well.Andrew Thorntonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04191233443131580096noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31223185.post-73342707567881973882009-05-23T13:15:55.772-07:002009-05-23T13:15:55.772-07:00Strawberry/Rhubarb Pie is what I always asked my m...Strawberry/Rhubarb Pie is what I always asked my mother to make for my birthday -- it's my FAV.
