R.I.P. Bettie Page...

The notorious 1950's pinup model, Bettie Page, has passed away.  She was 85.  Many have tried to copy her, but few have ever quite achieved the status of an iconic sex symbol that she has.  Her lasting impression is still felt today, even after over a half a century has passed.  She will live on through her pictures and inspire generations to come.

I just read this. She was amazing. I feel like running out and getting my bangs cut in her honor. :)

Oh wow! It feels like it is the end of an era. Living in So. California, you would always hear sighting rumors. She was apparently very reclusive. Sad news.

Page starred in a few mainstream movies too, didn't she?

From what I know, I think that she only was featured in short silent films that were then later on dubbed with music and narrated.

It's so weird how influential she's been. Particularly in Brooklyn! I mean, I remember being neighbors to a girl who used to dress exactly like her and did art pieces that recreated the bondage films Bettie Page did. She wasn't the only one I knew. When I used to work in the nightlife, there was a Bettie Page night and everyone dressed up like Bettie Page or wore Bettie Page t-shirts or bondage gear. Very surreal.
