The Golden Touch...

I've been thinking about the sensation of touch and the stigmas associated with it in preparation for my pitch for the show. I usually look back over ancient archetypes to look forward. What came to mind was the myth of King Midas and his golden touch. Something that at first seems like a gift, transforms into a curse. I'm going to try and incorporate this somehow.

One time when I was at the Atlanta Botanical Garden, I had the wild idea to make it a tactile, rather than a visual, experiance. It was great fun discovering how things that looked soft might be prickly, or vise versa. Surprise after surprise, and made the entire visit new and exciting. It was an experiance that I've since tried to incorporate into daily life...find the beauty and the surprise in the ordinary things! Fun, fun...

great idea! I used to love the fairy tales when a gift became a curse. the the person would have to find a way "back".
