Quick Trip...

We took the Chinatown bus down to Philadelphia for a going away party for a friend.  (I always forget how close Philadelphia is!)  Of course while there, I had to stop at the Reading Terminal Market to visit Old City Coffee and Flying Monkey Patisserie.  I love the Monkey Bars!  We strolled around the older parts of the city.  I like the winding alleys and tiny tree-lined streets.  I kept seeing a cast iron placard on the buildings with a snake and flames and an "F" and "A" and wondered what that was about.  Upon further research, I discovered that it was a fire-marker for the Philadelphia Fire Association.  (The photo above comes from an antique website.)  One of the stops was the Philadelphia Sketch Club.  It wasn't open, but I could imagine artists coming to and fro with their canvases and reams of paper.  It was a nice trip, if not all too short.  I like Philadelphia!

Philadelphia is awesome! i am looking forward to my return trip the first week of june - going down for work.
I loved the Reading Terminal market. I fell in love with some cupcakes that I think were at the Flying Monkey as well. :)

If you ever are in the area again, Philly is about 1/2 hour from me!!! And if you like small historic places, there is nook & cranny place close by here too - Old New Castle here in DE. Also goes by Historic New Castle... Not even close to Philly coolness, but small and nice to walk around...

Hey Lorelei!

I would say that we should meet up, but I think I'll be in Milwaukee. Alas. That would have been fun though. I love the Flying Monkey and I can't wait to try out some of the other new bakeries that just opened up in the market.

Hey Marsha!

I would love to come down for a visit! That'd be a lot of fun. Seems like this New Castle place is my kind of place. I'd love to go treasure hunting and see what I can find.
