Lunch with Jen Tong...

Above:  "The Perfect Bot" by Jen Tong.

I have been in the process of decompressing after quite a few deadlines and a lot of work.  For the past few weeks I've been squirreled away working and have not really been able to take much time for myself.  One of the things that I do to get me to feel more myself again is to spend time with the people I love.  Today, I was fortunate enough to have lunch with the talented Jen Tong.  I made pork chops with sliced pears cooked in garlic, butter, and white wine, biscuits, and creamy garlic mashed potatoes.  For dessert, I made an apple crisp.

It was really good to sit down and catch up with her.  Her show out in San Francisco, Sweet Surrender, did amazingly well and her "Femme Bot" paintings were received warmly!  CLICK HERE to check out one of the recent write-ups of her work.

That painting is so layered with meaning. I've just spent about 20 minutes moving my eyes around it.

And Andrew, if I ate with you everyday I would need a trolly to roll myself around. That food looks so yummy!

Hey LeAnn! I love Jen's work. She's got such a wonderful way of painting. Not only that but she's a really awesome person and I'm really happy that I know her. She was one of my first friends when I moved to New York.

Oh! And that's silly. We'd be too busy running around and exploring the City and making things to be rolled around. The key to eating so richly is lots of activity to balance it.

Hey Janet! I try! We love to eat good food and I love to cook. We grew up on PBS food shows.

Hey Sheila!

Guess who will own that painting one day!??!! ME! That's right. I did a trade with Jen Tong. It's in transit from a show she had up. I'm super lucky! I will give it a place of honor in my home.
