Fanciful Notions...

If I catch up on my deadlines, clean the apartment, and if the weather is nice, I have BIG plans this weekend!  The Brooklyn Botanical Gardens is hosting the kick-off of their annual event, Hanami: The Cherry Blossom Viewing Season.  It's a month long celebration devoted to the largest collection of flowering cherry trees outside of Japan!  Right here in Brooklyn!  The season will be punctuated with the Sakura Matsuri, "Rite of Spring" festival May 2nd and 3rd with performances, music, flower arranging and tea ceremonies.

I'd go no matter what -- the conservatory is very nice shelter. BTW, what a lot of cool jewelry you've made! Just wow! I've been enjoying your blog a lot.

Hi Andrew,
Thought I would finally comment, I have been stalking your blog for several months now. Your post reminded me to plan a visit to the botanical gardens in NYC this summer. Have you ever been to Wave Hill? It is wonderful.
I make lampwork beads but my first love is gardening.

That would be so fun! A little inspiration goes a long way. Even if you don't finish everything first you should go.

Hey Patti Cahill!

I don't know. I really want to go and I think time-wise I'd be able to. But it's raining cats and dogs right now and I don't leave the house when it rains. I don't like being wet and cold!

Hey Anne! Thanks for finally commenting! I love to hear from people. Also thank you for your suggestion. I haven't gone yet, but will surely have to now! It looks like it'd be a very relaxing and good time. AND it's only a hop, skip, and jump away.

Hey Sue! It's wonderful most of the time and a lot of fun. But it can be hard at times. Not only is it really expensive compared to most of the rest of the country, but it can be daunting with so many people here. I like the energy here and all the things there are to do. So, it balances out and when I need a break from the stresses of New York, I visit my family in the mountains in North Carolina, so it is nice.

My relationship with New York is like a love affair. It's strange to really personify a living place like that, but it very much is.

Hey Nina! You're lucky! You're at ArtFest and making things and meeting so many wonderful people!

Not to worry, Alethia, I always do!

Hey LeAnn, you were right about not letting the housework get in the way of making stuff and it all turned out nicely. So... I should listen to you. But it's starting to look like a tornado hit the house... so I've got to do what I've got to do. Anyway, the Botanical Gardens will be open for a month with the cherry blossoms... so I might wait to go in the middle of the month when the blooms are really kickin'.

Hey Christine! I agree... a little fun could go a long way! I'm in desperate need of an outing and for a little color and fresh air!
