Violent Skies...

Toward the end of the day yesterday, the skies became a frothy dark mass and threatened to pour.  A customer walked in just as I was about to close and we ended up chatting.  A few minutes after she left, the ominous clouds broke and the heavy rains began to hammer down; the strong winds whipped ferociously!  I decided to stay at the store while the worst of the weather passed.  At the time, I thought I had rotten luck.

As I made my way home, I came across several road blocks.  It turns out that there was a tornado that touched down and it pulled down a bunch of power lines and trees.  Had I left when I originally wanted to, I would have been directly in the path of the tornado!

I feel blessed for the stranger who came in and delayed my leaving and possibly saved my life.

It took an hour to get home, navigating the road blocks and winding my way through backwood roads.  When I got home, I took a picture of my battered peonies... still studded with raindrops from the violent skies.

Ohh goodness, I'm glad you are safe! Things do happen for a reason, even if it doesn't seem like it at the time.

So glad you dodged the tornado! Your story reminded me of when I had gone to visit a girlfriend of mine in a neighboring town, and I took a little-known (at the time) route to and from her home. I was getting ready to leave, and she persuaded me to have another glass of wine (only two over the course of the evening, so it was not a case of drunken driving) When I finally got around to leaving, I saw a terrible accident, a car with five people had been hit by a truck. All five were killed. The truck driver was speeding down the dark, winding foothills road and either didn't see or didn't have time or reflexes enough to avoid the car. It might have been me. I was terrified and so grateful for that last glass of chardonnay.

Isn't it a wonderful feeling when something you think of as "bad luck" actually turns completely around?
