I'm fairly private about my studio space. It's a sanctuary that I go to for my own particular use. It's still a work in progress and often times the mess is daunting, but it's where I go to think and work.
I've had to develop a system of clear plastic and open bookshelves to store my supplies and materials. That old cliche of "out of sight, out of mind" rings true for me. So, I have to have everything visible to expedite my creative processes and let me work the best I can.
Inspiration is important to me and I like to surround myself with images and ideas that will fuel my creative fires. Above is a picture of the twelve-part series of Specimen prints from Amy Walsh. I finally got them hung up and put on the wall.
The trunk in the middle of the room plays several roles. One of them is to provide surface area to work on, another is to be storage for my power tools and jewelry tools, another is to act as a foot rest for me while sitting on the couch, and the other is to be a seat for working on the computer. Since I have a small space for my studio, I really have to utilize as much of it as possible.
Above is a picture of my owl case, some beads, and my postcard wall. It's a little horror vacui, but I still like to be surrounded by images. It helps me think.

Wow! I love it...it really is a sanctuary. And now I know that I have a name for my affliction...cenophobia...I have the most cluttered wall above my work space. Sometimes it distracts me with its zaniness but I just can't bear to throw anything away! Thanks for sharing a bit more of yourself Andrew! Enjoy the day! Erin

Andrew, I love having a little peek inside studio spaces. Yours is somehow just as I imagined a space you might work in.
I've had to be really creative about storage. There isn't a whole lot of room and I've got a massive amount of stuff. So, there's had to be a lot of compromise and adjusting and re-adjusting... but my studio has become one of my favorite rooms.
It's great that you have figured out how to multi-use your chest. Small studios encourage us to think outside the box (pun not really intended). I like your studio space!

Yes! I need to be surrounded by my supplies and inspirational stuff too. It's been fascinating to me to see the two camps clearly defined in this studio tour: minimalists vs... what? excessiveness? abundance? Whatever; it's good to see that I'm not alone :- )
