Sacred Skull Necklace...

Here is another sample of what can be done with some of the new treasures up in my Shop.

When I set out to make this piece, I had a couple of objectives. Firstly, I wanted something that would dangle nicely and have the ability to be layered easily with other pieces of jewelry. I also wanted to create a piece that spotlighted the Indonesian Black Water Buffalo Horn Beads. So I made two pieces out of metal clay, hammered them into submission and then did a rivet through the skull bead to hold it in place. Next, I riveted the dichroic glass in. I also sandwiched in the ends of two lengths of chain. This made the transition from chain to pendant much cleaner and less abrupt. The hammered chain links sandwiched between also acted happily as a "cushion" between the fine silver structures and the glass bead, sort of like a washer.
