Capturing the Moment...

When the last session ended of Capturing the Moment, I was worried that I would slip into an inconsolable sadness, pass out from exhaustion and squirrel away for three days. We had such an amazing time and shared so much of ourselves. It was such an invigorating experience and I grew to love so many people unexpectedly. I wasn't prepared for that. But in them, I found friends and companions that I am eager to share my existence with. The workshops really were treasured gifts and punctuated a beautiful time here in Tucson.

After Jeannette left, we found ourselves sitting around the table talking about what a wonderful time we had and how some of the students had already been asking for more workshops. We started talking about all the places we wanted to go and all the people we wanted to see... and then... there was a crystalline moment, when we both looked into each other's eyes and said, "Let's do it. Let's do more workshops."

We didn't get up from the table for hours. We sat there creating lists and schedules, drawing little calendars in our sketchbooks, mapping out adventures, and sending out emails across the globe. I had expected to find sadness at the end of our journey, of dropping from a high, but instead found new passion in facilitating more experiences.

And this is how the plans for our next three workshops came to be. The very idea of them was a gift, a lens that looked into the future past the sting of so many recent departures. On the horizon glittered shining moments just waiting to be captured.

Asheville, NC: We'll be traveling to the misty mountains of Western North Carolina for a four day workshop starting on October 19th and ending on the 22nd (2011). The workshop will focus on honing our creative eye with writing, photography and blogging. Our days set in the picturesque mountains, covered in autumnal foliage will be studded with many exciting experiences. We'll be soaking up the beauty of the season with some mild hiking, talking to local craftsman and artists, and finding treasures in the local artist-run shops and antique stores. We'll also be sampling some true Southern cooking and exploring the culinary scene in and around Asheville. The tuition is $400 for all four days.

New York City: We'll be spending a full week in the Big Apple from May 7th to the 13th (2012). Like the other Capturing the Moment workshops, we'll be focused on developing our writing and photography through blogging. Our whirlwind trip in City will include explorations of art galleries and museums, tours of botanical gardens, talks with professional fine artists, shopping excursions in the Garment District at exclusive wholesale bead and jewelry-component showrooms, walks around the City, and lots of good food from around the world. Been to New York before and think you've seen it all? Think again! We'll be getting off the beaten tourist trail and make quick trips to the other boroughs to do things not listed in the tour guides. We'll shop, sightsee and blog about our urban adventures! The tuition for the seven days in New York City is $650.

Paris and the French Countryside: This is another full week Capturing the Moment workshop set to happen September 17th through the 24th (2012) and it will be our FIRST international location! We'll be traveling across the Atlantic to enjoy the sights in Paris, France! We've also got day trips scheduled to explore the Countryside. Expect trips to museums, restaurants, and open air markets. This should be an adventure of a lifetime! The tuition for the seven days is $650.

Want to have one of these amazing experiences? Signups for all three Capturing the Moment workshops have already started and spaces are filling fast! Currently we're taking $200 non-refundable deposits to hold spaces. The deposits will go towards your tuition fees. The tuition fees do not include lodging, food, or transportation. What they do include are handouts, personalized critiques, guided tours, and the creative experience that Kate and I both have in expressing ourselves and having adventures. We'll both be on the case, finding shared accommodations in each location to minimize expenses and increase the fun!

Me too! I had a dream about them last night. Then again, I think I've dreamt of them before, but there was no context to place them in... so they just seemed bizarre.

I used to dream of the wind at my back, pushing me ever forward, and then I realized... it was leading me here and it will take me around the globe to these fantastic places.
